Our History
Hassan El Tahawy founded the company at the beginning of the twentieth century. The company's primary focus was on construction and rolling stock projects. In 1974, Mohamed Abdel Moneim Hassan El-Tahawy restructured the company to undertake large-scale sewage and rolling stock projects.

Since that time, the Tahawy companies have emerged as leaders in the Egyptian rolling stock market. Over the decades, the Tahawy Group has been involved in some of the industry's most significant projects. The company is best known for supplying Hungarian and French trains, Henschel locomotives, 5,000 Spanish passenger cars, and producing over 7,000 freight cars, thousands of passenger cars, and more than 100 Power Coaches. These achievements were realized in collaboration with the SEMAF factory over a span of four decades, spanning from 1980 to 2023.

In 2012, Dr.Amr El Tahawy became the sole proprietor and chairman of the company after Mohamed El Tahawy passed away. The company began new ERA by partnering with SEMAF factory in manufacturing and supplying several Passenger power coaches and freight wagons. Over the last few years, our company, in collaboration with Semaf, successfully supplied 212 stainless steel passenger cars, 200 power coaches, 140 flat wagons, and 75 Grain wagons. In addition, to designing and supplying the 1000 Freight Wagons with Semaf Factory, which includes 300 Side Dump freight Wagons. Furthermore, Tahawy Supplied Semaf factory with Amsted Rail 2000 Motion Control Bogies 2000, 2000 Automatic Couplers and 8000 Brenco Bearings for the 1000 Freight Wagons Project.
